Marking 33 years in business, The Baltic Times stands as one of the longest-enduring English-language print publications in Central and Eastern Europe. We are excited to present the latest edition of our magazine, a collection of stories and insights that capture the essence of the Baltic region and beyond.
When asked to describe himself in a single sentence, Virginijus Sinkevicius – formerly the youngest European Commissioner and now a Lithuanian Member of the European Parliament – responded without hesitation: “A father, a husband, and a hard-working man.”

In this edition, we delve into the EU's financial landscape with insights from Dr. Laima Liucija Andrikiene, Lithuania's Member of the European Court of Auditors and a signatory of Lithuania’s March 11, 1990, Independence Restoration Act. Among the local heroes featured is Sarunas Vaitkus, the mayor of Palanga, Lithuania’s gem on the Baltic coast. Despite the gloom and the fear that darker days may lie ahead, I firmly believe that peace begins within each of us, radiating outward like ripples in a pond.
In a world often divided by physical, cultural, or ideological boundaries, let us strive to rediscover the common ground that unites us as one human family. May we celebrate the shared values of love, compassion, and the pursuit of a brighter future.
Let us each become an instrument of peace through small yet meaningful acts – a word of encouragement, a gesture of forgiveness, or a quiet moment of reflection shared with another.
Wishing you a peaceful and hopeful 2025!
