VILNIUS - The Lithuanian Police Department will on Thursday sign contracts on the designing and construction of new buildings for the county police headquarters in Kaunas and Panevezys.

The contract on the construction of the Kaunas County Police Headquarters' buildings in Radvilenu Plentas will be signed with Merko Statyba.

Salvinta will build a new building complex for the Panevezys County Police Headquarters in Berzu Street.

Both contracts have been awarded on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis for a period of 15 years, including three years for the designing and construction phase.

The Kaunas County Police currently work in 20 buildings, and the Panevezys County Police in four buildings.

A PPP project for the construction of new police headquarters in Vilnius started last year after signing a 56-million-euro contract with Pilies Projektai, a subsidiary of Darnu Group.
