Fires, bombs shake up Riga

RIGA - The Latvian capital was rattled by three major fires and a wave of bombings last week, prompting the Interior Ministry to hold a special meeting with top police officials Feb.13 to discuss the situation."All these events and situations don't constitute a situation which can be called a state of emergency," Interior Minister Roberts Jurdzs told reporters at a press conference following the meeting.The three fires erupted on the same night, which posed a challenge for the fire department.
