RIGA - The Exigen Group, the internationally renowned IT company, announced this week it would take over Dati, a local software developer, in a strategic effort to pool the two companies' resources and improve their competitiveness.

Dati spokeswoman Baiba Gulbe said the two companies would remain separate businesses but would join forces on certain projects.
"This strategic partnership, combining resources of both companies and over 700 experienced software development experts, will open up new opportunities for IT outsourcing in the Baltic states," the two companies said in an statement.
Within the partnership, Dati will improve Exigen's scientific research capacity in development of specialized business-process programs software, and the 12 Exigen companies in Europe, the U.S.A. and Australia will help Dati to expand its international business through marketing and sales support.
Dati Chairman Valdis Lokenbahs said the companies' combined resources and experience would make them the strongest player on the Baltic market, "offering even more efficient specialized solutions in various business areas."
Exigen Group general manager of outsourcing services Alex Poberezhsky said, "Latvia as a EU member state represents an accessible, stable foreign outsourcing alternative to services by Asian companies."
No details of the deal have been released for now. More complete information about the companies' plans will be made public in September.
