Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) Council has announced a public competition for the position of VMU Rector. Admission of applications from the candidates will be open from 31 January to 7 March.
VMU Rector is elected by VMU Council for a five-year term in accordance with the Law on Higher Education and Research of the Republic of Lithuania, VMU Statute, and the election procedure approved by VMU Council. Eligible candidates must have an impeccable reputation, hold a doctoral degree (or an equivalent in the arts), or be recognized artists with teaching, academic, and managerial experience. Proficiency in a foreign language (English) at C1 or a higher level is also required. VMU Rector’s salary is 9,250 euros.
Candidates wishing to participate in the election must submit documents proving their academic degree or recognition as an artist, their teaching and managerial experience, curriculum vitate, and a five-year program concept for their term as Rector. Moreover, they must provide a declaration of impeccable reputation and conflict of interest disclosure as well as other necessary and supplementary documents deemed relevant for the competition.
The documents have to be submitted in person or sent by registered mail to VMU Document Management Center (K. Donelaičio g. 58, Room 1, 44248, Kaunas) or via email to [email protected] by 7 March. Documents must be in Lithuanian or accompanied by certified translations into Lithuanian as per legal requirements. Candidates must include their phone numbers, address, and email.
An open Senate meeting for candidate presentations is planned for March 19 or 20, with a Council meeting scheduled for 21 March.
The Rector elections will take place on 27 March during a special meeting of VMU Council.
