Dalia Grybauskaite was born on March 1, 1956 in Vilnius, Lithuanian SSR.
1983 - graduated from Saint Petersburg State University (then - Zhdanov University), Political economy;
1988 - defended her PhD thesis at the Academy of Social Science, Moscow;
1990 - studied at the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University, Washington DC.
1983-1989 - member of the Communist Party
1991-1993 - Director of the European Department at the Ministry of International Economic Relations;
1993 - director of the Economic Relations Department, represented Lithuania when it entered the European Union Free Trade Agreement;
1996-1999 - Plenipotentiary Minister in the United States's Lithuanian embassy;
1999-2000 - deputy Minister of Finance;
2000-2001 - Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs;
2001-2004 - Minister of Finance;
2004-2009 - European Commissioner for Lithuania;
2009 - President of Lithuania.
