Vilnius signs contract to buy its first electric buses

Vilnius is set to purchase its first five electric buses for 1.5 million euros, with the vehicles to be manufactured and delivered to the city by Lithuania's TM Service jointly with Turkey's bus manufacturer Karsan Otomotiv Sanayii ve Ticaret.  The capital's local authority and Vilniaus Viesasis Transportas (Vilnius Public Transport, or VVT), a company that finances the acquisition, signed the contract with the consortium, the winning bidder, on March 15.
