Russia and Lithuania clash over ruble’s controversial design

MOSCOW - Russian Central Bank has no hesitation regarding its right to place any images, including that of a controversial World War Two monument in Vilnius, on the ruble coins, the Bank said Wednesday, Aug. 3. Earlier in the week, Lithuanian Foreign Ministry slammed Russia for minting the coins bearing an image of the monument to the Soviet “liberators” in Vilnius.
