RIGA - Prime Minister Evika Silina (New Unity) will attend the inauguration ceremony of Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican on Sunday, May 18, according to the Prime Minister's agenda.
The inauguration Mass of Pope Leo XIV of the Roman Catholic Church will take place in St Peter's Square at the Vatican.
The event is expected to bring together many world leaders.
Pople Leo's first general audience will take place on Wednesday, May 21, and on May 24 he will meet with members of the Roman Curia - the Vatican's most senior officials.
As reported, on May 8, a conclave of the Catholic Church elected Cardinal Robert Prevost as the new Pope, taking the name of Leo XIV. Pope Francis, who became pontiff in 2013, passed away on April 21 at the age of 88.
