Paulauskas to reconnect Lithuania with world

VILNIUS - Lithuania's acting President Arturas Paulauskas is leaving for Ukraine on April 18 on his first foreign trip in capacity as president. Paulauskas will be in Kiev on April 18 - 20.

According to a press release by the presidential press service, Paulauskas' agenda in the Ukrainian capital includes meetings with President Leonid Kuchma, Supreme Rada Chairman Volodymyr Litvin, Prime Minister Viktor Janukovich, Foreign Minister Konstantin Grishchenko and Viktor Yushchenko and the leader of the oppositional faction Our Ukraine.
Paulauskas is also scheduled to visit the Ukrainian National Architecture Museum, the national nature reserve, the national historical and culture reserve and to see an opera at the National Opera House.
The Lithuanian president will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Antanas Valionis and several advisers during the trip.
The original plan provided for Rolandas Paksas to travel to Ukraine before the impeachment; however, the visit was postponed on several occasions for various reasons, including the ill-heath of the Ukrainian president.
