VILNIUS - Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda on Monday met with visiting Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Vilnius and discussed bilateral cooperation in economic, education, innovation, IT, and other areas, the presidential press service said.
"The meeting focused on bilateral relations between Lithuania and Azerbaijan and the upcoming visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Lithuania later this month," the statement reads.
During the meeting, Nauseda, underlined that Lithuania is interested in expanding further cooperation with Azerbaijan in economic, education, innovation, IT, and other areas.
Nauseda pointed out that Lithuania supports the development of collaboration and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the European Union in the field of energy and that the EU-Azerbaijan cooperation agreement should remain a political priority.
Also on Monday, Bayramov met with his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis and honored the memory of the January 13 victims at Antakalnis Cemetery.
