VILNIUS – Outgoing Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis met with US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell in Washington on Thursday to discuss Lithuania's and the United States' relations with countries in the Indo-Pacific region.

"Despite unprecedented political and economic pressure, Lithuania has stayed the course in building relations with countries in the Indo-Pacific region over the past three years. This is a success story that, I am confident, we will continue," Landsbergis said in a press release.

"Lithuania and the US share a clear understanding that we can only counter the threat from China and other autocracies by acting together," he added.

According to the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry, both sides agreed on the importance of further developing the dialogue between Lithuania and the US on issues related to the Indo-Pacific region.

Landsbergis and Campbell also discussed boosting bilateral Lithuania-US relations, the importance of transatlantic cooperation, economic ties, regional security threats, and the need to continue and step up support for Ukraine.

During the meeting, Lithuania's top diplomat underlined the importance of continuing military support for Ukraine, holding Russia accountable for war crimes, and responding to its aggressive actions against allies.

He also underscored the importance of the US military presence in Lithuania and security commitments to Europe, according to the press release.
