KAUNAS – Kauno Autobusai, a municipal enterprise in Kaunas, Lithuania's second-largest city, has signed an agreement, worth 24 million euros excluding VAT, on the acquisition of 100 new hybrid MAN buses.

"We have signed a contract with the producer of MAN buses, Adampolis, on 100 hybrid buses. It's modern design, modern technology and they will first come to Kaunas," Mindaugas Grigelis, managing director at Kauno Autobusai, said.

The delivery of low-floor electricity- and diesel-powered MAN Lion's City 12 buses is set to start in the last quarter of next year, and they will replace over a half of the enterprise's existing fleet.

The new buses will be less polluting and quieter.

Earlier this year, Kauno Autobusai bought 30 new small buses from Silberauto for 2.8 million euros. Last year, the enterprise acquired 85 news trolleybuses from Poland's Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. for 29.4 million euros.
