VILNIUS - Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius reaffirmed Lithuania's support for Moldova's European integration during a phone call with his Moldovan counterpart Vasile Tofanu on Monday.
"Full membership of Moldova and Ukraine in the European Union is our shared strategic goal. You can count on Lithuania's continued comprehensive support on this path, including expert and institutional assistance in implementing reforms and strengthening resilience, to ensure this day comes as soon as possible," the prime minister said.
According to Sinkevicius, the goal of European Union membership for Moldova and Ukraine by 2030 will be a priority during Lithuania's upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union.
"In order to achieve this goal, not only is the rapid and smooth implementation of reforms important, but also their long-term sustainability," he added.
The conversation also focused on bilateral relations and security issues as Russia continues its war against Ukraine.
It was noted during the call that Russia remains the greatest long-term threat to Europe and the international order, with its hybrid attacks, ranging from airspace violations to disinformation, posing increasing security risks.
