VILNIUS - From next year, Lithuania will celebrate February 9th as the Baltic Energy Independence Day.
On that day this year, the Baltic states were connected to continental European grids, having disconnected from the Russian electricity system a day earlier and carrying out a joint isolated operation test.
The Lithuanian Seimas on Tuesday adopted an amendment to the law on commemorative days with 102 votes in favor, no votes against and six abstentions.
According to Algirdas Butkevicius of the Democrats "For Lithuania", part of the ruling bloc in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia would make similar decisions soon.
