RIGA - Latvia and Slovakia have a good potential for strengthening cooperation in the area of IT and high-technology, President Egils Levits believes.
Elina Kresa, a representative of the Latvian president's press office, told LETA that during his official visit to Slovakia on Monday Levits had a meeting with Slovakian parliament Speaker Boris Kollar, underlining the role of parliament in boosting NATO's eastern flank and promoting economic exchange between the two countries.
In the conversation with the Slovakian parliament speaker, the Latvian president thanked Slovakian parliamentarians for approving the mandate of the Slovakian troops serving with NATO's enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group in Latvia.
Kollar thanked Latvia for providing good living conditions to the soldiers and indicated that for Slovakia this had been a significant decision. He noted that this is a strong signal about Slovakia's contribution to the Alliance's collective defense.
The Latvian president informed Kollar about the the upcoming Three Seas Initiative Summit, due to take place in Riga in June 2022. Slovakian President Zuzana Caputova is also expected to attend the event.
