Kruzbergs takes bronze in 1,500-meter Olympic short-track

MILAN - In the final of the Olympic men's 1,500-meter short-tack speed skating last night, Latvia's Roberts Kruzbergs finished in overall third place, thus taking the bronze.

This is Latvia's first-ever Olympic medal in the short-track.

Jens van ’t Wout of the Netherlands won the gold, while South Korea’s Daeheon Hwang took the silver medal.

Kruzbergs finished in two minutes and 12.376 seconds, 0.157 second behind the winner.

This is also Latvia's second medal at these Olympics after Elina Ieva Bota took the silver in the women's luge.

In the 1,000 meter short-track event, Kruzbergs finished in overall 5th place, which until last night was Latvia's best ever finish in a Olympic short-track discipline.
