TALLINN - Bolt is about to launch its Bolt Drive car rental service in the Latvian capital Riga and in nearby Jurmala this week.

"We started the service in Estonia a year and a half ago, and we are now ready to bring this experience to new markets," Lukas Yla, head of new mobility at Bolt, said in a press release.

In the Bolt Drive service, cars of different sizes will be available in Latvia to offer a choice for both urban commutes and trips out of town. The models include Toyota RAV4, Audi Q2, Audi A3, Volkswagen T-Roc and Volkswagen T-Cross, Toyota C-HR, Toyota Corolla and Hyundai i20.

The prices of Bolt Drive in Latvia are similar to those in Tallinn. For example, in the cheapest category, the price per minute is 7 cents and the price per kilometer is 18 cents. A 20-minute drive from the Riga bus station to the airport costs about 3.5 euros.

In addition to Bolt Drive, the Bolt taxi hailing app and scooter rental service are available in Latvia.

Bolt Drive in Latvia is subject to similar safety measures as in Estonia -- for example, speeders get warning messages and their account is blocked in case of repeated violations. Fines are meted out for serious traffic offenses.
