VILNIUS – Culture Minister Sarunas Birutis will attend the opening of the Lithuanian national pavilion, titled "Archi/Tree/tecture", at the Venice Architecture Biennale on Thursday.

"This year's Lithuanian exhibition (...) will invite visitors to reflect on the deep connection between architecture and nature," the Culture Ministry said.

"The pavilion raises questions about architecture's empathy in a rapidly changing world, its ability to live in harmony with the environment, and the impact of its decisions on communities and historical memory," it added.

Conceived and curated by Gintaras Balcytis and commissioned by Jurate Tutlyte, the Lithuanian pavilion will be through November 23.

Birutis will also take part in a professional breakfast hosted by the Lithuanian National Institute of Architecture, visit other countries' exhibitions and attend the opening ceremonies of the Latvian and Estonian pavilions, according to the ministry.

Held every two years since 1980, the Venice Architecture Biennale is one of the world's most prominent contemporary architecture events. Lithuania has taken part since 2016, when it debuted alongside Latvia and Estonia in the Baltic Pavilion.

According to the institute, the biennale is a chance for Lithuanian creators to present their ideas and visions on the world stage. Participants are selected through a public competition organized by architecture experts from the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
