VILNIUS - The planned meeting of the Baltic and Polish prime minister in Tallinn will not take place, the Lithuanian government's press service said on Sunday, saying that the meeting has been cancelled as Estonian Prime Minister Kajsa Kallas got COVID-19.
"The quadrilateral meeting of the prime ministers of Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and Poland and the trilateral meeting in the format of the Baltic Council of Ministers, which were due to take place on December 17-18, have been cancelled," the statement reads.
Because of that, Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte's visit to Tallinn has also been cancelled.
The four prime minister were due to discuss regional security and defense issues, the forthcoming NATO summit in Washington, support for Ukraine, sanctions against Russia and Belarus, EU border security and other topical issues on the EU agenda.
Also cancelled are Simonyte's Monday meetings in the trilateral format of the Baltic Council of Ministers, which was due to be held to discuss regional security, support for Ukraine, and the unified implementation of sanctions against Russia and Belarus.
