'Pols' Celebrates 55 Years on a Stick with Four New Ice Creams: Barberry, Almond, Lemon and Hazelnut

Beloved, witty, and cherished across generations. That is the ice cream brand “Pols,” which has now been delighting consumers for 55 years. To celebrate the anniversary, the masters of “Rīgas saldējuma fabrika” have created four new “Pols” ice creams. Two of them expand the legendary stick ice cream line, while the other two join the crunchy waffle cone category. Total investments in the development and launch of the new products are estimated at approximately EUR 200,000.

“It feels absolutely incredible that a brand created 55 years ago has managed to preserve its character, remain faithful to its original form, and still stay relevant for new generations. ‘Pols’ has never been just ice cream. It is the polar bear on the packaging and in real life, humor, childhood memories, and the courage to pleasantly surprise people from time to time. That is why, in this milestone year, we wanted to create new products that pay tribute to the very first ‘Pols’ stick ice cream recipe from 1971, while at the same time bringing fresh flavors, bold ideas, and a playful glimpse into the future,” says Ģirts Liniņš, Marketing and New Product Manager at “Rīgas saldējuma fabrika”.

Two Special 55th Anniversary Ice Creams on a Stick

- One of the new creations is a vanilla cream ice cream “Pols” coated in milk chocolate-flavored glaze with almonds. It is an interpretation of the original recipe in a particularly festive and dessert-like form. The rich glaze with expressive almond pieces gives “Pols” a new texture and deeper flavor dimension. If the brand’s iconic white polar bear had to choose a birthday cake, it would probably taste exactly like this.

- The second novelty is the brightest product in the history of the “Pols” brand: vanilla-flavored cream ice cream with barberry sauce coated in barberry glaze. While colorful glazes have appeared in the history of “Pols” before, such an expressive pink tone, perfectly matching the flavor of the sauce itself, is being used for the first time. For many, barberry evokes memories of childhood candies and summer sweets, while for younger generations it becomes a completely new flavor discovery.

In Waffle Cones: Caramel with Hazelnuts and Lemon Freshness

Preparing for the summer season, the masters of “Rīgas saldējuma fabrika” have also created two new “Pols” ice creams in crunchy waffle cones.

- One of them is an entirely new “Pols” large waffle cone with caramel ice cream enriched with crunchy hazelnut pieces. It is an ice cream with a distinctly dessert-like character and a rich combination of flavors.

- Meanwhile, for fans of refreshing flavors, “Pols” lemon-flavored milk ice cream has been created in a waffle cone with lemon glaze and lemon sauce in the center. A summery citrus combination designed for hot days.

All four new products are already available in major retail chains and smaller stores throughout Latvia.
