Vilnius readies for its Song Festival

VILNIUS - The Lithuanian Song Festival is here! It is the country’s most important cultural event, included in the UNESCO World Heritage list and makes the name ‘Lithuania’ famous all over the world. Performers will present folk songs, dances and bands, a brass band, and theater programs as well as crafts in Vilnius from July 2-6, and will say “It’s my home.”

The festival will also invite participation in entertainment of various kinds and to try out the old crafts, says Vilnius Tourist Information Center. It is planned that about 37,000 participants will take part in the jubilee Song Festival, with Lithuanians coming in from 14 countries. By events and performances it is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of viewers. This unique spectacle of traditional culture will be held in Lithuania for the 19th time.

Tickets to the Evening of the Ensembles, brass band concert, the Dance Day and the Song Day events are available at the Ticketpro box office. Ticket prices for events start from 20 litas (6 euros). According to the organizers of the Jubilee Song Festival, this year’s festival will delight everyone not only with the traditional events, but also with an abundant bouquet of innovative and unexpected accents.
