Ken Watanabe, the star of "Memoirs of a Geisha", responded to complaints that the film cast Chinese actresses Ziyi Zhang and Gong Li in Japanese roles.

Watanabe, who is Japanese himself but played a presumably Chinese character in "Batman Begins", told the Prestige Hong Kong magazine in an interview published in its February edition, "Talent is the most important thing…Not your nationality."
