Construction of the Estonian Military Academy's Centre of War and Disaster Medicine Begins in Tartu

The Estonian Centre for Defence Investments (ECDI) and a consortium consisting of Embach Ehitus OÜ, a company belonging to the Nordecon AS group, and OÜ NOBE have signed a contract for the establishment of a modern Centre of War and Disaster Medicine in Tartu. The centre will train military personnel, reserve medics, and medical students.

"With the onset of major construction at the Raadi military base, we are simultaneously advancing three significant projects: the administrative building for the 2nd Infantry Brigade, the combat school's educational facility, and the War and Disaster Medicine Centre, poised to become the focal point and flagship of the base," said Peeter Karja, ECDI’s Southern Portfolio Manager.

The new centre will elevate training opportunities to a completely new level. The four-story building, with nearly 8000 square meters of net floor area, will include a large auditorium essential for the Estonian Military Academy and the Baltic Defence College, as well as a dining facilities for the military base. The building will also offer accommodation for rehabilitation patients and personnel participating in exercises.

Lieutenant Valter Voomets, in the duties of the head of Centre of War and Disaster Medicine, expressed long-standing anticipation for the new building, "Our training volumes have steadily increased, outgrowing our current infrastructure. Last year alone, we trained over 2500 individuals. It's imperative to offer a modern and conducive learning environment for all our students and instructors. The new facility will feature the largest simulation hall in the Baltics, adaptable for various training scenarios with smoke, sound, water, and lighting to simulate realistic conditions, thus boosting motivation and achieving superior outcomes."

Embach Ehitus OÜ is responsible for the completion of all three buildings. "We are pleased to be a reliable partner for the Estonian Centre for Defence Investments in the design and construction of the three largest projects at the Raadi military base, thereby contributing to the development of national defence capabilities," commented the company's director, Andres Salusaar.

The total cost of the design and construction contract is 15 million euros, excluding the client's reserve and VAT, with a completion deadline of 18 months.
