VILNIUS - Vilnius Airport has been temporarily closed until at least 5 p.m. on Wednesday after a LOT Polish Airlines aircraft arriving from Warsaw skidded off the runway while landing.

Lithuanian Airports (LTOU) said the LOT Polish Airlines aircraft from Warsaw veered off the runway at 1:43 p.m. while taxiing toward the apron. All passengers were disembarked.

LTOU spokesman Tadas Vasiliauskas told BNS that all emergency services were working at the scene and that there was no information yet on any injuries.

"Aircraft are currently neither landing nor taking off," he said.

A considerable amount of snow fell in parts of Lithuania, including Vilnius, on Wednesday. The country is experiencing a mix of winter weather conditions, such as intense snowfall and wet snow buildup, and people are advised to postpone any non-essential travel.
