Tips for Casino Etiquette

Casinos can be confusing for first-time visitors. They tend to be large, open rooms filled with people who seem to know exactly what they're doing, and you get lost. It makes for a better atmosphere when you're finally ready to sit and play.

How to handle your phone?

Everything we do these days seems to involve оur phones. Well, in a casino, they want you to enjoy your favorite game while being carefree and phone-free. Most of the time, you are not allowed to use the phone when sitting at the table. Just keep it in your pocket because you're not usually allowed to put it on the table either.

Worried you'll miss a call or text? Turn up the volume. The good news is that when no one is playing on their phone, everyone is focused оn playing the game, which means fewer distractions and less waiting time between hands. Also, if you have to walk away to answer or make a call, actually walk away.

Table Specific Etiquette

Table games require some specific etiquette that you should keep in mind. Before sitting at a table, be sure to know the minimum and maximum bets for each table, which you can find on the table. When dealing with dealers, please do not touch or hand them anything. For example, when you buy chips at the table, place your money on the table along with your player card. The dealer then exchanges the money for chips.

Handling Chips

At a roulette table, the dealer will give you chips of a different color than everyone else. This is to differentiate your chips from everyone else's. Remember your colors and know where to place your chips correctly to bet. Don't be afraid to ask the dealer for help if you need to; that way, you don't lose your bet by putting your chips in the wrong place.

During a roulette or blackjack hand spin, never move or remove chips or touch other players' chips.

Tipping Dealers

Although the game is based on probability and the dealer cannot influence the outcome of a hand, there are some unwritten rules about tipping the dealer at the casino table. These people are not well paid, they stand for hours and have to deal with drunken, disorderly gamblers. When you win a big hand or leave the table, the least you can do is throw them something. While the dealers can't influence your hands, they can make your time at the table more enjoyable by making you a waitress faster, chatting with you and keeping people away from you.

Tipping Waitresses

Many casinos offer their players free drinks at the poker tables, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't tip the waiter. They had to walk back and forth from the bar to make sure their cocktails were topped up. At the very least, a drink or two will keep them coming back more often, and these staffs make a living off these tips.
