Stiga RM to complete the acquisition of Norupe sawmill

Upon the receipt of approval from the Competition Council of Latvia, Stiga RM, one of Latvia’s leading timber companies, plans to complete the acquisition of the Norupe sawmill owned by Rīgas meži SIA in order to build a new technologically advanced production facility instead of the existing sawmill in the coming years, where the timber harvested in Latvia will be processed into high-quality export products.

“The approval of the Competition Council of Latvia will allow us to finalise organisational work and to start the implementation of our plans for the development of the new factory. We see that this location has a significant development potential in continuing the targeted development of the production of high added value products in Latvia. There is a lot of work ahead, but we have accumulated extensive experience, and this will become the third Stiga RM factory in Latvia. We continue to move steadily towards our goal – wise use of domestic wood, adding high value to it and creating modern, sustainable, and environmentally friendly products,” says Andris Ramoliņš, owner of Stiga RM.

The development of our factory in Ogre will be the first step of our company beyond the Kurzeme region. The convenient location, as well as access to the necessary infrastructure and communications, provide a good basis for the establishment of a new production facility of engineered timber products, thus contributing to the development of the Latvian wood processing sector.

Stiga RM currently owns one of the most modern birch plywood mill in the Baltic states, which has been successfully operating in Kuldīga for more than ten years, while a high-tech Wood Wool Cement Board (WWCB) plant is under construction in Tukums and is expected to be put into operation in 2025.
