Viktoras Pranckietis, the speaker of the Seimas, on July 14 ruled out the possibility of online voting for voters abroad in October's parliamentary election, although on June 30 the parliament amended the Law on Elections to the Seimas to allow Lithuanian citizens who are abroad and those in self-isolation in Lithuania to vote online in elections during a pandemic. The amendments would go into effect if a state of emergency due a new COVID-19 wave was announced in Lithuania.
