Live Streaming Tech in the UK Revolutionizes Content Distribution

Live streaming technology has long since been leveraged in a wide range of applications, and has seen many innovations since its widespread implementation decades ago. Live streaming is particularly utilized in the entertainment industry, bringing traditionally in-person experiences into the digital realm. Take something like online casinos, for example. On a larger scale, however, streaming to multiple viewers in real time can pose certain challenges. This is why BT is working with broadcasters in the UK to develop Multicast-Assisted Unicast Delivery (MAUD). This technology essentially combines multiple independent streams into one shared stream. In doing so, this has the potential to improve image quality and reduce buffering, as well boast a higher capacity that better deals with peak-time streaming audiences. It is hoped that this technology will be launched in the UK in 2024. 

Artificial Intelligence in Lithuania Increases Transmission Capacity

Over the past few years, Lithuania has become a center for global fintech operations and technology startups, thanks to its supportive environment, framework for attracting talent, and encouraging grants. The tech sector in Vilnius is particularly booming, recently seeing investment to create Europe's largest tech campus - Tech Zity. However, these things need a huge infrastructure in order to operate. The environment is also a key consideration of the country's big players, with the Bank of Lithuania announcing a green agenda that reduces the environmental impact of the financial industry. 

As the demand for clean energy is likely to increase indeterminably over the next decade, Lithuania's electricity system operator has started experimenting with AI. Combining technological innovation, finance, and the environment alike, Litgrid has found that AI and sensor technologies have the ability to increase electrical throughput capacity in transmission lines by 52%. When combined with Dynamic Line Rating (DLR) technology, this could have a huge impact on generating and harvesting renewable energy, as well as distributing it throughout the country. 

Robot Deliveries in Estonia Shake Up Logistics 

In the age of technology, we've all heard whisperings of delivery robots, and the future of deliveries. However, this innovation has been a decade's work for Starship Technologies which is based in Estonia's capital city of Tallinn. What started as a revolutionary startup in 2014, Starship now distributes its last-mile delivery robots to more than 80 countries. 

More recently, the robots have had a technological upgrade with groundbreaking autonomous wireless charging between deliveries, allowing them to run for 18 hours. But that isn't all, the company is also looking to utilize AI solutions to improve the efficiency of the robots, and particularly to assist customers who are less able bodied.
