Fed-up farmers flood streets

VILNIUS - Farmers turned threats into action July 13 as they poured onto the streets in about half of Lithuania's 44 districts to protest what they say is a lack of government support for agriculture.The protest, coordinated by Lithuania's Peasants' Party, was planned to last one day, and thousands of farmers were expected to participate. The farmers' top demands include payment for crops and the fulfillment of government obligations to compensate them for diesel fuel.
