Climbing accident claims lives of four Latvians

RIGA - The nation received devastating news last week after a group of four Latvian mountain climbers fell to their deaths on New Zealand's Mount Cook. The climbers all were roped together and fell almost 300 meters from the Linda Glacier just below the summit of the mountain.The group was discovered early in the morning on Dec. 10.The accident claimed the lives of Teodors Kirsis, his daughter Evija Kirse, Ilmars Bernans and Aivars Prosenkovs. Of the four climbers, Kirsis, 61, was the most experienced.
