Car fee on border irks official

NARVA - Estonia's Legal Chancellor Allar Joks demanded last week a cancellation of a fee imposed on cars going from Estonia to Russia through the Narva border crossing.In a letter to Prime Minister Juhan Parts, Joks stated the dubious fee introduced by the Narva municipality harms the international prestige of Estonia.According to the regulations issued in 1997 by the Narva City Council, all vehicles passing through the city bound for Russia must first visit a special parking lot at a street near the border, pay the fee of 15 kroons (1 euro) and then wait to cross the border."In essence the...
