Student imprisoned in Iraq could be freed soon

RIGA - Latvian officials confirmed Nov. 17 that a Latvian college student who was detained while traveling in Iraq could be released from a coalition-run prison as early as the end of this week."Our armed forces members met with him [Nov. 14] and were pretty positive that he'd be let out and be able to reside amongst the Latvian troops there until they could find a way to get him out of Iraq and back in Latvia," Peteris Elferts, Latvia's ambassador-at-large to Iraq, said.
