Poll: no returning property to Jews

VILNIUS - At a time when Israel has turned up the heat in diplomatic relations with Lithuania, more than 60 percent of Lithuanians are against restoring property rights to Jews who no longer live in the Baltic country, a poll showed on Nov. 7.Some 37.6 percent of respondents said they "completely disagreed" with the idea, while another 22.5 percent said they "probably would be against" it, according to a survey carried out by the Lithuanian Sprinter company during the week of Oct. 21.Vilnius was one of Europe's most important Jewish cultural centers before WWII, but about 95 percent of its ...
