Brussels puts up red flags to EU accession

RIGA - A batch of reports released last week by the European Commission has both commended and criticized preparations made by the Baltic states and other accession countries as they prepare to join the EU next year.The reports, which monitor how the 10 accession countries have met EU requirements, found that Lithuania was the most prepared - and Latvia the least - of the three Baltic states.
