Vytenis Andriukaitis, a top-ranking member of the ruling Social Democratic Party, told reporters he advocated a thaw in the country's policy toward the ostracized regime of Belarusian President Aleksander Lukashenko. Andriukaitis' comments followed a mid-Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas and his Russian counterpart Mikhail Kasyanov agreed Oct. 21 to sign an agreement on military transit via Lithuanian territory.
