RIGA - In the first-ever criminal case involving political party financing, theBureau for Preventing and Controlling Corruption has charged the Greens andFarmers Union with accepting illegal donations and falsifying documents.The Aug. 18 charges allege that GFU, which won 12 seats in Parliament inlast October's elections on its mainly Euroskeptic platform, received asmuch as 75,000 lats (120,000 euros) from third-party sources and falsifieddocuments to cover up the illegal transfers of money.In response, Ingrida Udre, leader of GFU, accused the anti-corruption bureauof political persecution...
