Cuts in health care a "tragic mistake"

RIGA - A slip on the ice last year sent Antra Mengele to the hospital for two operations to repair her badly damaged leg. For each operation she had to pay 15 lats (25 euros), a sum the 27-year-old Mengele was able to afford. And thanks to her employer's insurance, up to 40 lats part of her medical expenses were also covered."I felt the state made a great contribution and protected me from the overall costs.
