Estonia, Latvia final test for EU expansion

AFP TALLINNEstonia and Latvia, shown in opinion polls to have large Euroskeptic camps, are the final battleground in a season of referendums ahead of the European Union's 2004 expansion.Following the Czech voters' overwhelming vote in favor of joining the bloc in a two-day referendum last weekend, Estonia and Latvia will stage referendums on EU entry on Sept. 14 and 20 respectively.Referendums on joining have already passed in Malta, Slovenia, Hungary, Lithuania, Slovakia, Poland and the Czech Republic.
