EU chides Cuba for rights violations

BRUSSELS The European Union issued a stinging attack on Cuba on June 5 over the island's recent human rights record and said it was re-examining its relationship with Havana in the light of recent human rights violations there. In a statement the EU's Greek presidency said a unanimous decision had been taken to "proceed to the re-evaluation of the EU common position" vis-a-vis Cuba to restrict political and cultural contacts with the island.Further measures included limiting bilateral high-level government visits, reducing the profile of member states' participation in cultural events and i...
