Estonia sending troops to Iraq

TALLINNThe Estonian government on June 10 approved sending 55 troops to Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar to take part in U.S.-led security operations. Estonian Defense Ministry spokesman Madis Mikko said the troops include a 32-strong police and guard platoon, three mine-divers - underwater mine countermeasure specialists - and an 11-men strong cargo handling unit. The remaining nine troops will be in reserve for possible deployment at a later date, Mikko said.The ministry declined to state in which of the four countries each unit would operate.
