No more free ferry rides TO THE SPITLithuania's Parliament voted on May 29 to stop providing a free ferry service between the port of Klaipeda and the Curonian Spit starting July 1. The ferry crossing has been free of charge for over a year, and under amendments to the Law on Financing of Road Maintenance and Development Program the government will continue to subsidize ferry service only for residents of the Curonian Spit itself, as well as for staff of companies that are headquartered on the spit and vehicles owned by such companies.
