VILNIUSThis week Russian lawmakers ratified the 1997 border agreement between Lithuania and Russia. The treaty, approved by the Seimas (Lithuania's parliament) in 1999, marks the first settlement of borders between Russia and a former Soviet republic and raises hopes of more to follow, including the ones with Estonia and Latvia.Russia's Duma (the lower house of parliament), approved the treaty on May 21, with 268 deputies voting in favor and 138 against.
