Baltic ministers hash out pork dispute

TALLINNThe European Union said it was pondering additional purchases of pork because of the problems affecting the market, which in turn may have a negative effect on the market in Estonia, Minister of Agriculture Tiit Tammsaar said. Speaking from Brussels, where he was attending a meeting of the EU's council of agriculture ministers, Tammsaar said most EU members stated that they were in a difficult situation because of the pork market and were in favor of allocating extra money for intervention purchases.
