Prudent fiscal strategy adopted

TALLINNOn May 27 the government approved its main fiscal priorities for 2004 - 2007, with balanced budgets and prudent planning given top importance. According to the Ministry of Finance, this new approach to public finance would enable Estonia to "avoid large foreign debt and provide a sustainable state finance system in the long term."The Cabinet will maintain the simplicity and uniformity of the government's tax policy but will crop the tax burden in accordance with the coalition agreement that aims to leave more money in taxpayers' pockets, according to the May 27 agreement.
