Lithuania, Russia ink deportation treaty

VILNIUSLithuanian and Russian officials signed a mutual deportation treaty May 12 that requires both countries to kick out illegal residents from their respective countries.Darius Jurgelevicius, undersecretary in Lithuania's Foreign Ministry, and Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Razov signed the agreement. "Today is a historic day," Jurgelevicius said. "We started the talks with Russia on a readmission pact back in 1994. Ten years later the agreement has been signed."
