TALLINNAn unusual protest took place in Tallinn on May 9 when about 45 people, most of them blind, gathered in front of the Ministry of Social Affairs to speak out against changes in their disability status that result in lower social benefits payments. Carrying placards and moving about with the aid of guides or canes, the demonstrators quietly assembled near the steps of the ministry building on Gonsiori Street to deliver a petition to Social Affairs Minister Marko Pomerants.
