East Europe appeals to save Radio Liberty

RIGASeveral Eastern European countries, including the Baltics, have sent a jointly signed letter to the U.S. Congress asking that Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty continue broadcasting in local languages despite budget cuts expected this year.Legislators from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Croatia, Slovakia and Bulgaria signed the letter, which asks the United States government to continue broadcasting in their national languages for an additional three years.The U.S. administration has prepared a draft budget for 2004 that cuts funding for broadcasting Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and Voice...
