New Baltic fund honors independence writers

NEW YORKAlgis Tomas Geniusas, a Lithuanian writer known for his accounts of imprisonment in gulags and efforts to resist the Soviet occupation, received an Award for Excellence in Journalism at the opening of the Andres Juriado Baltic Fellowship Fund on April 18 in New York.The event took place on the backdrop of the official opening of the 2003 Estonian Cultural Days at the Estonian House on East 34th Street in New York.The event was attended by numerous dignitaries, including Estonian Consulate General Reimo Pettai.Other journalists honored were Estonia's Tauri Piilberg for his Voice of A...
