Road, border contracts riddled with cracks

RIGAThe government has amended several contracts for rebuilding the country's eastern border zone after the State Audit Office confirmed that 21 construction contracts had been breached.Juris Reksna, secretary of the Interior Ministry, had first suggested that there were violations in the construction contracts and that an audit should be performed. Reksna claimed that the state overpaid 2.8 million lats (4.5 million euros) for laying border roads and 1 million lats for rebuilding a border guard school in Rezekne.
